Saavan and Shahi Saavari

Visiting Ujjain in the month of Saavan is always a pleasure for the devotees of Shiv. Lord Shiv is the precising deity of ujjain and worshiped as Lord Mahakaleshwar who is also belief as the king of Ujjain. Mahakaleshwar the god of death and time, visit the streets of their kingdom and meet the devotees outside the temple. The procession of Mahakal Raja is also known as mahakal savari. The history of savari is a very old and no one know since how long this ritual is performing. In saavan ujjain become a hub of Shivaites where visitors from all over the world come to ujjain and give there obedience to the Lord.

As Ujjain is a famous tourist place in west madhya pradesh, it attracts visitors all over the calender but in savaan the traffic of visitors in ujjain multiplies in 100. Mondays of saavan is always special for devotees and the god, specially when you are celebrating a saavan of 45 days. This is also a unique tradition performed at Mahakal template committee. The last Monday of 45 days long saavan is also a important day as on that day the procession of Mahakal Raja is called as Shahi Saavari and on that day the number of visitors or followers cross 5 lacs mark.
