Shri Mahakaleshwar Savaari

Shri Mahakal ki Sawari is the special processions that are taken out in the Shravan or Sawan or Saavan month in the Ujjain. Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. These special rituals are held on the Mondays or Somwar in Shravan Mahina. Mahakal ki Sawari 2015 dates are Aug 03, Aug 10, Aug 17, Aug 24, Aug 31 and 07 Sep. The Shravan month in 2015 as per traditional calendars followed in North India begins on Aug 03 and ends on Aug 31.

Special processions of the murti of Lord Shiva are held on all Mondays in the surrounding of the Ujjain Mahakal Temple. Thousands of people arrive to witness this unique ritual.

This is also the period when the Kanwar Yatra takes place.

Shri Makaleshwar Bhasmarti

To make it easier for devotees Shri Mahakal Bhasmarti entry booking process is online now.

Four persons can apply on one application and at least one photo and ID proof of a devotee is a must. If the darshan is available an instant confirmation is then displayed.

Those who drop application directly at the booking counter, a computerised receipt with code would be given to them and later those who are granted permission for darshan will be informed through SMS also.

An average 25 per cent quota of Bhasmarti entry passes has been reserved for online booking .

Bhasmarti counter has been made near the front gate for those who directly come up at the temple to seek entry passes.

Bhasmarti passes are absolutely free and there would be no charge or fee either online or offline mode so that this plan will benefit outsiders. The booking can be done 30 days in advance.

Visitor needs to present Bhasmarti pass at the time of entry alongwith original identity proofs registered at the time of booking.

Gadhkalika Temple

Gadhkalika Temple is situated 5 kms from the present town. The Deity at Gadhkalika, a form of Goddess Kali, was worshipped by Kalidas in olden times. Legend states that he was an idiot, but by his devotion to the Goddess he was transformed into a great literary genius. Emperor Harshvardhan renovated the temple in the 7th century. There is further evidence of renovation being done during the Paramara period. In modern times it was rebuilt by the erstwhile Gwalior State. The temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths.

Saavan and Shahi Saavari

Visiting Ujjain in the month of Saavan is always a pleasure for the devotees of Shiv. Lord Shiv is the precising deity of ujjain and worshiped as Lord Mahakaleshwar who is also belief as the king of Ujjain.
